It's down to the bones. Eventually the tires will go too. Can it ever recover?

Can I get my mojo back? Will my new owner shine me up? Ouch my roof is now missing!!! I'm thinking a lot more than a spit and shine is needed to get this ole truck road worthy. I was hoping that the restoration would take years but knowing my husband we'll be lucky with months. It does have a certain character all it's own. The engine starts with the turn of the key but most everything else is lacking. One of my favorite sayings is ..... If you give a pig a pancake from a great kids book. (look it up - read it- to find out what I mean) Well my husband just got his pancake and now the syrup is on the way along with a bubble bath and a soft towel...... What I mean is one thing leads to another.... A new saw to remove the roof, a sand blaster, an upgrade to the welding equipment, a bigger air compressor..... I love it when someone finds a passion!

Sold!

In 2018 the Willy truck was finally done then sold.

It was sold to an enthusiastic guy who plans to show it.

It was a fluke that we actually sold it at a car show with having no inclinations we would even do so.  The adventure never ends though.  We are not onto a 1953 Dodge Pilot House truck where it's also been taken down to the frame and working till it's completion.

We are officially a Willy owner. After years of admiring the Jeep Willy's and the Willy truck my husband has tracked one down. He spent considerable time searching the web making phone calls and educating himself. We've owned a jeep for many years and have enjoyed going to 'camp jeep' and having fun as a family on trails. I've blogged about how my daughter has admired a Willy several times. I do believe she was born in the wrong decade. She should've been a 1960's girl. Anyway the adventure has begun for my husband to turn this 1962 Willy's truck into a road worthy vehicle. We travelled to the Berkshires in Massachusetts into the small village of Blandsford to bring the truck home. Thankfully without too much fuss we arrived home safely during our first snowfall of the season. Because of the snow we cut our trip short so I need to go back through the Catskills and Berkshires because it's a photographers paradise. My husband just completed a 1998 Jeep Loredo and I think he was afraid of being bored! I'm proud of all his hard work. I'm sure it may be quite some time before this all comes together because of course the holidays are arriving and directly behind that brings baseball and softball and the world of golf. It'll occupy his time for a few years but stay tuned for updates! (The biggest decision of all will be --what color to make it!!) ........................Goodnight John-Boy!

Willy's world

For a reason I can't figure out yet my daughter is on a quest to find a Willy's. Willy's are old Jeeps that were built and sold from 1946-1964. They made trucks, jeepsters, panel wagons, and station wagons. Most are more familiar with just the jeepsters that were used in World War II. We caught a rare glimpse of a truck this past summer with my nephew displaying it above. Yellow just happens to be my daughter's favorite color in a jeep too. Many of the Jeep Willy's diplayed here today were from Camp Jeep an event we've attended many Summers and the first two are from an event at the Carlisle Army War College museum. She has a special eye that can spot one of these like no other. Do you have an odd passion you just can explain how it was cultivated? Camp Jeep!!?

Just a little posterization or solarization and the whole kit and kaboodle. The question swirling around since the new year has come and gone is---Camp Jeep or no Camp Jeep? We are keeping an eye on the web site (click HERE) and so far all signs are appealing. Come on economy make a come back!!!! We've attended Camp Jeep for many years from Branson, Missouri to the Poconos in Pennsylvania and mostly to Nelson County in Virginia. (near Walton's mountain) My daughter has become a Jeep Willy's lover and eyes them up and wants to be driving one. Camp Jeep is a blast for any Jeep owner. There's something for the entire family. Top name concerts, picnics, crafts, sports, kids tent, Tony Hawk, The flying tomato (Shaun White), biking, fishing, scuba diving, rafting, alpine tower, and so much more. Watching fellow jeepers trying to get out of a water filled ditch was a top rated event during the last event. Click HERE to take a glimpse. Comradrie is achevied in these events and if you ever witness two wranglers passing one another on the highway they'll be giving the wave or the nod. Join in all you jeepers!

Jeep progress

The jeep is coming along nicely. My daughter has laid claim but what will her brother have to say about that? It's been jacked up and new tires have been found. There's still lots of work to be done but that will keep my husband busy and content all Winter. We had to try it out on these rocks to see how it held up. Nice driving there Missy!!!

Camp Jeep

This is our recently acquired Jeep! A 1998 Wrangler-Laredo. We've been attending Camp Jeep for about seven years. We've been to Branson, Missouri, the Poconos in Pennsylvania and primarily in Nelson County, Virginia. (you know - where the Waltons lived!) It's a three day event with tons of family fun-filled activities. We go trail riding, arts and crafts for the ladies, even feet massages, rock wall climbing, alpine tower and other sports events, Jeep round table sessions, mountain biking, fishing, and so many more activities it's hard to recall everything through the years. The most memorable trip was out to Branson, Missouri. Seventeen hours in a Jeep Wrangler with a family of four. Whew! We stopped in St. Louis and explored the Arch and went to Springfield to the largest Bass and Pro Shop. Branson, Missour was it's own individual vacation aside from the great days at Camp Jeep. My sister's family and my parents went also and we had a really memorable time. Every year is a new adventure. The event ends each year with a headline concert (Tim McGraw, The Blues Brothers, Gavin DeGraw, Jason Mraz, Leann Rhimes to name a few) and some of the greatest fireworks any of us has ever witnessed and their even to music. Well due to the economy crunches Chrysler cancelled Camp Jeep 2008 and stated that they will now hold the event every other year; so we are all looking forward to next year - 2009!!! We purchased this old jeep and will making modifications to get it ready for some great trail riding. Hopefully my one brother will purchase a Jeep also and get to experience the adventures.
