Elk Neck State Park

Turkey Point Light House
Elk Neck State Park in North East, MD
Sitting on a 100 foot bluff this light house stands at the opening to the Chesapeake Bay.
We visited on a very cold very windy day but it was worth the trek.

The drop off at the top of the bluff was daunting.

Looking out over the Chesapeake Bay where the Turkey Neck Lighthouse stands.

The trail leading to the lighthouse was .8 miles, but worth the views.

Newville, PA - Big Spring Creek

On a slow windy drive along the Big Spring Creek near Newville, PA.

Egrets, trout and wildlife on land, in the air, and in the water abound.

I caught this fellow taking flight.

I also was stalking a gray egret but every time I tried to capture a shot of him he eluded me.
It was like he was a ghost and was playing tricks on my eyes.
I must return to find him!

Newville, PA

Newville, PA

A quaint little town between two small mountains.
The fountain sits proudly in the center of town for all to fondly admire.
Each year the Newville Fountain Festival is surrounded with art, crafts, food, and entertainment.
The town is  very patriotic and many ceremonies have been held around the fountain.

I recently have been drawn back to town to run on the rails to trails and had to bring my
camera along to enjoy some of the beautiful sites around town.

Green Ridge Village - Gilliland Manor - Newville, PA

Gilliland Manor
Located along the Big Spring Creek in Newville, PA.
Gilliland Manor sits in The Green Ridge Village Senior Living Community.
The manor sits proudly along the hillside overlooking some of the finest fly fishing
area in the United States.
It happens this is where I held my first job in high school.
I worked in the kitchen and helped to serve meals to the residents.
Working in the Manor was like going to high tea at every meal.
Proper table linens, proper tableware, proper serving.
Working in this kind of setting made you feel worthy going to work each day.

Pine Grove Furnace State Park

A favorite local spot to enjoy every season.
Biking, Hiking, Swimming, Kayaking, Camping
I shouldn't forget to mention Photographing too!

With the trees ablaze you can't help just stop a minute and thank God for the beauty all around.

Every year at the Fall festival there's a pumpkin carving station.
The pumpkins are displayed for all to see and lit at night-fall.
Of course yet again I missed it this year.  Life is too busy!
I did get to enjoy the display the following day and it was still a pretty cool sight to see.

A close-up shot!

Daisy

Daisy
Our new puppy keeps us busy and entertained.
Although she wasn't my idea, I have to admit I'm smitten with her.
She is more excited to see me come home than anyone else in the family.
She is always ready to play with a tail wag.
She is always ready to go for a walk just to check out the neighborhood.
My new friend since my kids found their own lives!
