Bear River, Nova Scotia ~~ Wineries

A stop at a local winery along our ways is always a plus.
Using this grape squeezer would keep your feet clean from stomping!

1611!
Wine sure has been around for a loooonnng time!

I couldn't find any awards from 1611 but the latest harvests have done quite well.

We had to go to the Annapolis Winery since we were in the Annapolis Valley.

It may look small but the views and the wine were worth the climb.

Digby, Nova Scotia - Scallops!

On the way to check on the scallop farm.
Digby is has world famous scallops!
I do say they met our expectations.

These are one of several scallops farms in the Digby Harbor area.

Day is done.
Sunset was fast and beautiful.

Digby, Nova Scotia ~~ At the Harbor

After a long day of work St. Nicholas II is at rest.

I'm quite certain these sea gulls are well fed at the end of each day.
How many can  you count?

Along the Digby Harbor is a quiet boardwalk for a romantic stroll.

Digby, Nova Scotia

One of my top 5 movements in Nova Scotia...getting this picture.
It now hangs on my wall.
It was late afternoon and all the fishing boats were tied up for the day.
Digby was the quintessential fishing village.
Their town web site describes Digby as 'Nova Scotia's Best kept Secret'
--I think they are correct!!

The colors were so contrasting!

Nova Scotia Road Trip

Out in the field on a hill overlooking the ocean this old structure stand.
What is its story?

The Trinity United Church of Canada.
There's something to be said for old and still functioning churches.
New and bigger isn't always the answer....

Looking into the forest was pretty hard.  You could only look about
five feet.  Thick and dark.  What lies in there?

High on the hill and weathered well!

Nova Scotia was all I dreamed and more!

Nova Scotia!

The man in the tower was waiting for us!
One of my long time dreams was about to come true!

Waiting to depart the ferry this lady was getting ready for quite the bicycle ride.
She was well equipped.
I would've liked to have heard her itinerary.
I wish I had the determination to explore like this...

Finally!!!!!!
Nova Scotia!
I've wanted to experience this island for eons.
This was the first view from land....back out on the water as we were dismissed
from the ferry.  There were things to do, things to experience, place I'll miss
and need to come another time.

Bay of Fundy - Coming into Digby, Nova Scotia

Can you imagine the view the owner of these homes is privy to?

Simple and Spectacular

Every shoreline can use a lighthouse.
...especially after the fog we had just came through!

The ultimate quaint beach home?
Take a closer look below...

It comes complete with it's own boat and above all else...its own adirondack chair!
Imagine sitting watching and listening to the tide coming in and out......

Nova Scotia -- Digby land views

Our first view of Nova Scotia.
I loved it before we landed on the shoreline.

You could see the cliffs from afar.

As we got closer the cliffs were much larger and intriguing.

There wasn't a shoreline with sand to lay your beach towel, but who needs a towel
when these views are so much more than expected.

Relived to not have to experience a life boat we successfully made it to the other side!
Do you think we would've had to climb the ladder to get in?

Bay of Fundy - Clear to Fog to Clear

Leaving St. John, New Brunswick the industries were in full throttle, but
at least it was a clear day to see forever!

Not very far from shore things started to change.
Fog!
(insert fog horn here)

We were surrounded from the back to the front.
It was kinda of securing but at the same time you felt the fog was in control.

Princess of Acadia - Life on board!

Every good sea going vessel needs a lot of rope!

Nose in the air!
We got a good view of the many vehicles loading.
Tractor trailers to bicyclists to your average pedestrian boarded to
make their way to Digby, Nova Scotia.

We've been launched!

Hydraulic rope pullers were a big help.
Do you think Christopher Columbus would've liked one of these?

St. John Ferry, New Brunswick - PRINCESS OF ACADIA

As the Princess of Acadia glided across the waters closer to us the excitement grew
all around us.

Many colorful vehicles had all of the attention and excitement.
They were headed to Digby, Nova Scotia for
The Wharf Rat Rally.

Need any motorcycle parts?
You could shop while waiting for the ferry.

I wasn't sure what was going to happen next!

St. John, New Brunswick Ferry

As we pulled up to the Ferry terminal in St. John, New Brunswick I
saw a lighthouse in the distance.  I quickly snapped a shot when
the light came on but I didn't realize till later how lucky I got till
I saw the sun coming up behind it and the windshield glare to add to it.

The city of St. John was just awaking to a brand new day!

We waited and waited for the ferry.
It was slowly making its way back from Digby, Nova Scotia.

A clear day for sailing!
