The Whole sha-bam

Family

Christmas has come and gone. It has been a whirlwind beyond my own imagination this year. I've gotten less done and am just now ready to enjoy and it's over! How did that happen? It was a great time spending some much needed family time together. My son was home and I got to see my nieces and nephews. (see ya tomorrow Cortney and Lexi!) Thanks to my parents and my Mother-in-law we all were spoiled. I'm so grateful for all my family and as most of you -- I fail to say it enough. Chrismas Eve was spent with my extended family of cousins, Aunt, and Uncles along with a few added friends. I think sometimes we take for grantit our good fortune of being able to get together. It gets harder as we all get older. We've been blessed mightly as a family. To all this -- credit can only be given to God above.

'For to us a child is born
to us a son is given,
and the government will
be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
'Isa 9:6

House on the hill

I'm thinking about a nice little villa on the hillside with a red roof..... Over looking the most spectacular harbor I've come across.
These are the things you think of when it's blowing with gusts over 30 mph and the temperature is a measly 30 degrees.

Merry Christmas to all!

A peaceful hush falls over the world…
When this holiday rush is through…
It’s time to reflect on family and friends…
And so I think of you…
It’s a time to send our greetings…
To those who are far and near…
To wish you the blessings of the season…
Not just today but throughout the year…
We pause and think of this special time…
A time that is set apart…
For thinking of those who are dear…
Who hold a special place in our heart…
Believe in the magic of the season…
May the love of God warm your hearts…
May you forever cherish the memory …
And what this season imparts…
It is not the gifts that are wrapped…
And placed under the Christmas Tree…
But the Christmas that lives within our hearts…
That is special to you and me…For unto us a child was born…
He is our Savior and King…
It’s the time we celebrate the day of his birth…
And the blessings his love does bring…
For unto us a child was born…
He is our Savior and King…
It’s the time we celebrate the day of his birth…
And the blessings his love does bring…

The Drive by shooting

Yet another discovery in the midst of The Berkshires in Massachusetts. I need to go back! I love that no matter that the reds, oranges, and golds are gone the green remains through all the seasons. As we drove there was a lake here a lake there a lake everywhere! I can imagine it now.... After a great day on a boat in the sunshine we're sitting by a campfire telling the usual lies and stories with a smooth drink and of course roasted marshmallows! If you're really quiet you can hear a wolf howlllllll.

On the road again? Post 2

Can I get my mojo back? Will my new owner shine me up? Ouch my roof is now missing!!! I'm thinking a lot more than a spit and shine is needed to get this ole truck road worthy. I was hoping that the restoration would take years but knowing my husband we'll be lucky with months. It does have a certain character all it's own. The engine starts with the turn of the key but most everything else is lacking. One of my favorite sayings is ..... If you give a pig a pancake from a great kids book. (look it up - read it- to find out what I mean) Well my husband just got his pancake and now the syrup is on the way along with a bubble bath and a soft towel...... What I mean is one thing leads to another.... A new saw to remove the roof, a sand blaster, an upgrade to the welding equipment, a bigger air compressor..... I love it when someone finds a passion!

Details

It's all in the details.
My 100+ year old piano somehow just makes me happy. When I play -- the unnecessary stress from the day melts away and I have a song in my head, my heart, and my step for hours.

Tannery Bridge near Otis, Mass and Farmington River

On our small adventure weekend I only acquired two decent pictures. I knew before I opted to tag along that it would be a fast and furious trip so I can't even complain that I couldn't get good shots going 70 mph! One of my favorite things is to investigate maps. Find new ways to get there from here to over there again. Of course that does not aleviate the fact that many U-turns will occur. My goal isn't to alway find the shortest or fastest route but rather to discover everything within a 25 mile radius of the intended route. In doing this I've come to realize this world has so much to discover that I don't think I'll ever be finished! Even if our treks consist of major roads to deliver our new (very old) truck safely in tow we did take a wrong turn and got to discover the beautiful mountains in Western Massachusetts! ( or was it a wrong turn.....) That wrong turn gave me the two shots of my weekend. This unique covered bridge spanning the Farmington River near Otis, MA and the Farmington River (western branch) itself. I confess the river scene has been tangeled with in my computer. Besides the edging I made the picture sepia and kept only the color of the river natural. The blue of the river was spectacular as it rapidly swept by the bland forest. I really was wishing that I could experience the colors of this forest two months ago but then I would have missed just how blue and clean and sparkling the river really is. Kinda makes you a little thirsty! ---------------Check out some other really great shots from around the world at http://showyourworld.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-world-tuesday-season-2-episode-9.html

1962 Willy Post 1

We are officially a Willy owner. After years of admiring the Jeep Willy's and the Willy truck my husband has tracked one down. He spent considerable time searching the web making phone calls and educating himself. We've owned a jeep for many years and have enjoyed going to 'camp jeep' and having fun as a family on trails. I've blogged about how my daughter has admired a Willy several times. I do believe she was born in the wrong decade. She should've been a 1960's girl. Anyway the adventure has begun for my husband to turn this 1962 Willy's truck into a road worthy vehicle. We travelled to the Berkshires in Massachusetts into the small village of Blandsford to bring the truck home. Thankfully without too much fuss we arrived home safely during our first snowfall of the season. Because of the snow we cut our trip short so I need to go back through the Catskills and Berkshires because it's a photographers paradise. My husband just completed a 1998 Jeep Loredo and I think he was afraid of being bored! I'm proud of all his hard work. I'm sure it may be quite some time before this all comes together because of course the holidays are arriving and directly behind that brings baseball and softball and the world of golf. It'll occupy his time for a few years but stay tuned for updates! (The biggest decision of all will be --what color to make it!!) ........................Goodnight John-Boy!

The 'Hope' in the Nativity

“This will be a sign for you. You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling
cloths and lying in a manger.”
.
-Thurmont, MD
Kudos to all who display The Nativity this blessed season. Our country seems to be over ran with that one person here and that one person there who seems to think they are speaking for the rest of us saying to remove the nativity displays due to separation of church and state. I still believe the majority want to see these displays and to remember the hope that is possible with Christ in our world.
.
Check out this YouTube video . It's a great Christmas song for this year!
